Morning Magic at Bradley Lake Park: Family Photos in Puyallup, WA
The Magic of Sunrise at Bradley Lake Park
There is something truly special about Puyallup’s Bradley Lake Park in the morning hours. The stillness of the water, the soft glow filtering through the trees, and the quiet of having the park to yourself create the perfect setting for authentic family moments. For this recent family session, we met just after sunrise; when the light was soft, golden, and absolutely flattering.
Bradley Lake Park tops my list for early morning sessions. With the beautiful forest paths, open grass areas, and serene lakeside photo spots; the park offers a bit of everything. A morning stroll through the park is peaceful, picturesque, and full of natural backdrops that really accentuate the Pacific Northwest vibes.
A Peaceful Start to the Day
This session started early, but the reward was incredible. As we started our walk in the park, the sun was peeking through the tall trees casting a warm glow across the lake. The family was excited and conversed with each other and shared laughs as we explored different scenic spots.
We moved between the lakeside and the wooded trail, taking time to pause and let genuine interactions take place between family members. That is one of my favorite parts about photographing families, capturing those little moments that cannot be posed. The unscripted and mostly overlooked interactions are the fleeting moments that tell a family’s story.
Why Sunrise Sessions Are Worth the Early Wake Up
Sunrise sessions are some of the best for families who want soft and glowy light with a calm private atmosphere. Morning like this offer several unique benefits:
Beautiful light: The soft golden tones of sunrise flatter skin tones and create a dreamy warmth.
Peaceful setting: Parks like Bradley Lake Park are calm in the morning with few other people, no distractions, and just your happy family in the beauty of nature.
Happy kids: Believe it of not, little ones are often in the best mood early in the day when they are fresh and full of energy.
Even families who are not morning people often tell me how worth it the early start was one they saw their photos.
A Note About Bradley Lake Park
Located in the heart of Puyallup, WA, Bradley lake park offers 59 acres of beautiful natural scenery. There are a mix of forested trails, open green space, a 12 acre lake, a playground area, and an expansive walking path throughout the park. This combination makes the park a great choice for families wanting a nature inspired backdrop and the convenience of staying close to home.
Some of my favorite features for photography include:
The lakeside path for soft reflections and water views.
The tree lined walking path for beautiful light and varying PNW backdrops.
The open grassy areas are perfect for family time and playful kids shots.
